Birthdays can be considered an important day for most people. Not everyone likes doing something on their special day. Some don’t and others are always looking for something to participate in, whether for their birthday or someone they care about. There are several ways of celebrating. Some celebrate it alone, some with family, and some with friends. Some people don’t mind celebrating it with strangers. For today’s Tuesday tens, I’ll be giving ten ways to spend your birthday. Some of these are activities that one can participate in and others are group activities even if it’s just with one other person.

  1. Photoshoot: A birthday photoshoot sometimes happens a few weeks before one’s birthday. However, sometimes they might occur on the same day. When doing a photoshoot for your birthday on the same day you might have to wait a few days to a week or two for the pictures. There are many locations one can choose to have a photoshoot for their birthday. If you’re not set on having it at a photography studio you could try the park, a family home, etc. There are also options available for photoshoots on a website and app called Peerspace. When preparing for a photoshoot, the key thing to remember is to make it your own in every way.

  2. Karaoke: Favorite songs, good vibes, laughter, and making new memories. When it comes to doing karaoke it doesn’t matter if you’re an amazing or horrible singer. Karaoke can be a great activity to do whether you’re doing it alone at a bar or out with a group of friends. You also don’t have to go to a karaoke bar. You can choose to do karaoke in the comfort of someone’s home.

  3. Bowling: Whether it’s someone’s first time or they’ve been bowling for years, bowling can be a good experience. It can be fun, it can be competitive, or it could be both. It all depends on the type of people that you go bowling with. Whether one strikes out or all their balls land in the gutter, there’s always a memory to look back on.

  4. Escape room: If the person celebrating their birthday enjoys a good challenge, an escape room is one of the best activities. There are two ways to participate in an escape room – in person or online. Escape rooms involve being locked in a room, finding clues, and solving puzzles with others so that everyone can escape. The group is usually given a set amount of time to complete the room in its entirety or they’ll fail. There are a lot of different themes for escape rooms too. Some are easy while others are hard. Some are fun while others are on the creepy or scary side.

  5. Go-karting: If the thought of racing against other people in cars is your thing, go-karting is the way to go. It’s fun, thrilling, and a good way to relieve stress. Whether you know how to drive well or not, racing could make you feel like you’re on top of the world. Many places offer more than go-karting including arcade games that you could play before or rather you race.

  6. Picnic: If the weather’s nice or decent, a birthday picnic could be the way to go if you’re looking for something relaxing to do for one’s birthday. The locations where one can have a picnic vary including the park, a beach, or a backyard. As long as the place is cozy, you can play music freely, and good vibes that’s all that matters. Ideas for food include sandwiches, fruit, pasta salad, and anything that might be easy to clean up.

  7. Game Night: A game night with a small group of friends can be beneficial and a good time to end a birthday. Having a game night could strengthen bonds that one might have with others. There are many games out there that everyone can play from board games to charades. Outside of charades some good suggestions for game night include Cards Against Humanity, Jackbox, monopoly, etc. If you’re stuck there is the option for gathering ideas from Pinterest or Google.

  8. Staycation: A staycation is usually classified as a vacation where one stays close to where they live. If you or the person whose birthday it is has been working extremely hard, planning a staycation could be a good idea. You don’t have to plan everything out if you’re someone who would rather go with the flow. If you’re someone who likes to stay inside you could plan to stay inside the entire duration of your staycation. If you enjoy getting out and doing things, you could plan to see attractions nearby. Classpop has a list of 33 ideas for a relaxing staycation that can be found here.

  9. Birthday dinner: If going out to eat at a restaurant is your thing, having a birthday dinner where your friends, family, or both are invited can make for a good end of the night. It doesn’t always have to be a birthday dinner, going out for a birthday bunch can be nice to do as well. Birthday dinners or brunches could be at a place that one loves or they’ve never tried before but always wanted to check out. Several restaurants offer a free slice of cake for the birthday person’s birthday. Warning, it comes with a happy birthday song. If you don’t like the spotlight, don’t worry you might not be the only one who could be celebrating their birthday.

  10. Birthday party: This comes last because while outdone, a birthday party as an adult can still be fun. The party doesn’t have to be big, it could be a small intimate party with the birthday person’s closest friends. If one doesn’t want a regular birthday party that involves a simple setup, balloons, food, etc, the best route is to choose a theme for the party. A few good theme ideas include the 90s, karaoke, Taylor Swift eras, casinos, and many more.

That’s it for my ten top ten ways or activities in which people could spend and celebrate their birthday. There are many other ways to spend one’s special day. One of the most important things to take away from this is to keep the birthday person’s interests in mind if that person isn’t yourself. All in all, the ones celebrating their birthday should be having fun. Do you have any other ideas you’re willing to add that you’ve done or would like to do in the future for your birthday? Feel free to share it below.
