Tuesday Tens: 10 Things You Don’t Know About Me

I haven’t posted a Tuesday tens post since it was introduced a few months ago. I thought what a perfect time to bring it back then my birthday week. This week’s Tuesday ten is me giving ten things you should know about me.

1. I’m a musically obsessed individual. Music has been a strong part of me my entire life.
   
   
2. I’m a highly sensitive person or HSP, for short. I know that a lot of people might be thinking, doesn’t that mean you’re sensitive? The answer to that question is a hard no. This is something that I plan on talking about in the future when I feel is the right time to talk about it. However, for now, I will say being sensitive and being a highly sensitive person aren’t the same thing. As an HSP, I feel everything and I do mean everything. I become sensitive over the smallest of things. I become overwhelmed by nearly everything. I feel so much that sometimes I don’t know how to deal with it other than curling up with my music and blanket and crying for hours at a time.
   
   
3. I have misophonia. WebMD describes misophonia as “a disorder in which certain sounds trigger emotional or physiological responses that some might perceive as unreasonable given the circumstance”. That is and has always 100% been the case for me. There are a lot of sounds that I can’t stand when I hear them and when I hear them I tend to get annoyed, angry, want to shut down, and the list could probably go on. For me it doesn’t only include sounds, sometimes it includes movements including those that are repetitive.
   
   
4. I love the paranormal and supernatural. Since I was a little kids I’ve always been fascinated with the supernatural and paranormal. Ghosts, UFO’s, aliens, etc are some of the things that I enjoy reading about that falls under these categories.
   
   
5. I’m trying to learn at least five languages in Duolingo. For some reason, I have a love for learning languages. Not only that, but learning languages tends to come easily to me for the most part. One of the languages that I’m learning in Duolingo is German. I started learning German when I was in elementary school because we had a German teacher at our school and a lot of the words I learned stuck with me into adulthood.
   
   
6. I have a rabbit named Thumper, named after Thumper from the movie Bambi. Back in 2017 for my birthday, I knew I wanted a small animal that was low maintenance. Looking into small animals a bunny stood out to me more than the rest. They’re independent, quiet, gentle and the list goes on. Those qualities along with more made me one. When I went to the store there were two rabbits to choose from but the one grabbed my attention. I’ve had him ever since. He’s not only a pet to me but a best friend too.
   
   
7. I have trypophobia. Trypophobia is when someone feels repulsed or discomfort due to seeing a cluster of small holes. When I see certain clusters of small holes sometimes I feel like something is crawling on my skin. Oftentimes whether a picture or something in front of me, several things tend to happen including feeling disgusted or panicking. My triggers include, though aren’t limited to, beehives, a cluster of eyes especially if they’re moving, honeycombs, coral, and I could go on.
   
   
8. I love reading and hearing about conspiracy theories. I think people give people that are into conspiracy theories a bad name.
   
   
9. Degrassi is one of my favorite TV show franchises of all time.
   
   
10. I’ve auditioned for a few music competitions. I’ve auditioned for The Voice, twice, America’s Got Talent, and American Idol. I also almost got a chance to record a snippet of a song from Empire for a chance to be in season 2 of the show but they cut the line off early that day before I could. I didn’t get to make it farther than the first initial round of any shows but I had fun and took the risk of trying out which is all that matters.
