Eight months. It’s been eight months since the year started and four months since my personal new year started. Here I am once again with a Relle Rewind. Keep reading to see what happened in August.

August Reflections

Strangely, my word to describe August would be “dream.” I say strangely because the word dream was my word of the year back in 2024. I say it’s my reflection word for August because I started to think about what it would be like if I were to get promoted at work. Technically, while I was thinking about it, I also wondered if I should actually make it happen.

(Come on, three words of the year, right?!)

It’s not like I don’t think I’d do a good job being in charge to a certain extent, but the fact is that I’ve never been in a position to do such a thing. However, I know if I were to ever flourish the way I want to, I have to start believing in my dreams.

That aside, I feel like August was a pretty good month.

Encore Moments

My main encore moment from August would have to be signing the lease to my first-ever apartment. Yes, I said what I just did. I got approved for an apartment and signed my lease on August 21st. Part of me wouldn’t say it’s a big deal for the most part, but the other part would say it’s a pretty big one.

Another thing that deserves an encore is that I decided to apply for a lead position at work. I applied two days after I signed my apartment’s lease. As I said before, I didn’t think I would do a good job; However, I thought, why not give it a shot? I also remembered that a few people I work with told me how I would be a great lead, or they’re surprised I haven’t become a lead yet.

All of that aside, while it’s not specifically an encore moment, something amazing did happen to me. Or rather, something amazing almost happened to me. I missed an opportunity one day at work. It wasn’t a meet-cute or anything like that.

During August I took a slight backseat from watching shows and started getting into miniseries. I don’t know, it’s just something about them that I’ve found myself enjoying. The only thing is, depending on the app, it can be hard to find some good shows because a lot of apps have annoying and weird AI doop on them.
